Welcome to my website.

Over the past 30 years, I have maintained an unwavering commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. To be frank, my efforts have resulted in feelings of both enormous satisfaction with progress made and some frustration that even greater advancement has not been realized.

Having served as a member of the 14th, 15th, and 16th National Assembly in Korea, as a university professor, and as an NGO leader affiliated with the United Nations, I have been able to channel my focus to the issues of human rights, equality, and women’s participation in decision-making.

I was elected to the position of President of the International Council of Women (ICW-CIF) in 2015 and am presently serving my second term. The organization was founded in 1888 for the advancement of women throughout the world. I find that my experiences and understanding allow me to feel satisfaction from my efforts in this post. It gives me the feeling that I am, at least to some extent, representing the voice of women, and am fortunate to be able to speak from a strong platform. I hold the steadfast conviction that promotion of international women’s rights is an entirely worthy endeavor.

Today witnesses the rapid acceleration of globalization. The meaningful input of women in this process is of critical importance and encompasses a broad range of issues. The abilities and potential of women must be utilized effectively to cope with matters such as climate change, environmental degradation, peace, education, poverty, and more.

I solicit your enthusiastic support for the women’s movement so that true gender equality can be realized. While this is not an easy battle to be fought, it is of critical importance for women, for the world, and cannot be understated. Women’s participation in the shaping of local, national, regional, and international politics, economics, and culture is a need rather than an idealistic wish.

Please know that I am always open to hearing your valuable opinions and suggestions, to seeing reality from your unique viewpoint, and to taking actions that might help to alleviate your frustrations with the pace of change. In short, know that I am here for you.

I hope you share my view that together we can move mountains.
Thank you.
